The manufacturing process that require to achieve the tight tolerance is all make it soo much. eg. Wire EDM lugway on the PGW takes may be 15 minutes to 30 minutes) instead of Broaching (less than 0.5 second) on mass produced action, 4 axis milling instead of tubular action that can be turned out with a Bar Stock feeder that the machine can keep running and running without any stoppage, also the raw material (PGW is from Bar Stock, not a Casting or even investment casting)
But Tolerance is all about it. The bolt body of the Coyote is -0.01mm for the full length.
Correct me if I am wrong
The stock is only a part of the equation.
Savage/Remington don't claim 1/4" MOA............they never have.
Some manufacturers claim 1/2" MOA with the proper ammunition (read factory Match Ammunition).
The added cost gets you a custom action,custom barrel and other top quality parts,tighter machining and headspace tolerences, hand fitting and NOT mass production, stock/action bedding plus a few other things.
You also will get a more consistent shooting rifle going the custom route opposed to the Factory offerings. All factory rifles need some tweaking ...................
With optics, I am into my rCustom AI 700 for around $10,000.00.................on a good day it can hold at least 1/2" moa out to 600 meters.............
Top notch accuracy does not come cheap.

Sorry, I sould have writin it better. I didn't mean that Savage/Remington claim that. I've read more than one that some buy said rifle's, and a new stock (or just bed the original) plus whatever custom work and then post 1/4 moa. I'm not saying that who has done that isn't getting 1/4 moa (if they are, that's great). After reading what work is done to them and the tolerances that this rifle is made under, I now understand why it cost so much. Now all that's left to do is to start saving

They have one really clever trick in particular: they've ground their reamer so that it puts the throat in the ideal location for a particular cartridge (Federal 168 gr. Match). Its the same idea as adjusting your seating depth to contact the lands, in essence. But, they do it to the chamber instead of the cartridge.
In any case, I'm thinking real hard about getting one of those Coyotes instead .

No, the price will be higher in US$ instead. Your logic is true for stuff thats being brought into Canada from the US, but not for stuff thats made in Canada. They're looking to get a certain amount of CDN$ for their guns. Less US$ used to get you more CDN$.
I first heard of the company an number of years ago when the candian forces did the testing for the MRSWS system most of the info on the PGW hasn't changed since then and i don't think they have done upkeep since 2005 at my latest guess
i heard about them on some defence review site that i think was hoasted on some candian universitys server lost the link on my old comp

i am curious about the reapeater 50 cals as a substitute for a mcmillan since they arn't exported
