New pistol with a built-in silencer debuts - Maxim 9

The very old ones used "wipes" which were rubber baffles that touched the bullet to better seal combustion gases. They wore out quickly. I don't believe many modern suppressors use them. With no moving parts and no bullet contact, a modern suppressor should last longer than the gun to which it is affixed.

Yep. The thing you have to worry about with the newer suppressors using baffles is the erosion of the lead baffles closest to the muzzle of the barrel proper. So no +P ammo, if you can help it.
