Just got the new pistol in the mail today and man do I wish I was un-employed right now. I want to get out to the range and hammer some rounds off. Not sure when I'll be able to do that, might have to call in sick one day(cough cough) As it was my first pistol I opted for an inexpensive Norinco 1911 A1. Just wondering if I buy extra mags for any 1911 will they fit, provided they are the same size pistol (newbie here, i think I have seen different sizes and cals) same as with grips. Had the gun for 6 minutes and already looking for extras. Thanks guys.:D

Any single stack mags will work. It doesn't matter if they are the 7,8 or even the extended base 10 round types. That's the nice thing about 1911's. EVERYONE makes them the same.

Congrats on your first handgun. When you get tired of perforating paper look into what the local clubs are doing with various handgun competitions. Even if you approch it strictly from a personal challenge they are superb fun and will really step up your own personal game.

And if/when you develop a noticable flinch issue keep in mind what I tell all new first time handgun owners.... If your first handgun isn't a .22 your second one darn well should be. In your case there's a couple of very nice options for 1911 style .22's. So you don't even need to go with a different gun style.

Appreciate the info, I hope I don't get the flinch, I have had to work through it in rifle shooting. I havn't done a ton of shooting with handguns but started off with a 22, went to a 9mm, moved on to a 357 and have shot a 45 a half dozen times at the range. Looking forward to really getting my feet wet with this one.

I work with a guy who is really into the IPSIC(?) style of shooting and he wants to head out to the range and do some shooting other then just punching paper. He's talking about holsters and a bunch of stuff that sounds fun and once I get some more rounds under my belt it sounds like fun.

The 22 is next on the list though, just for the pure fun of it and to be able to take other people out as well.
