Hey guys, quick intro:
Name is Dan, I'm 26 and I'm looking to exercise my basic human right to own property.
Father has law enforcement background, soon to be retired after serving almost 30 years.
Grew up shooting the revolvers when the police still had those, and again when they got striker fire pistols (9mm)
When I was younger I competed in a winter games biathlon shooting .22 rifle and getting from station to station on cross country skis.
I've been to the shooting edge here in Calgary a couple of times to try out different pistols, shotguns, rifles etc, but I had never really given any thought to getting my PAL or acquiring my own firearm.
My brother got his PAL about 6 months ago and I went with him to buy his first firearm (ruger sr22) and a couple weeks later I considered the possibility of getting my PAL and buying a gun.
My focus has been on pistols, I like the portability and the weight and the manipulative nature of the pistol. So I took my RPAL course and sent off my application around mid Sept 2011.
Still waiting to get my licence in the mail and in the meantime I've been doing a lot of research into the different pistols and what would suit my needs best.
I've decided on the S&W M&P 9mm
None of the local ranges carry this gun and so I probably won't get a chance to take it for a test drive before I buy it.
If I don't like it, worst case I can just re sell it and pick up another gun.
I have decided on 9mm solely based on the fact that it is cheap ammo and easy to acquire.
If anyone knows who in canada will give me the best price on an M&P 9, pls chime in.
