John Barsness posted this on a different forum:
Hodgdon just announced three new extruded IMR powders that are temperature resistant and contain a decoppering agent. The three powders (IMR 4166, 4451 and 7977) are roughly in the IMR4064, IMR4350 and Retumbo burn-rate ranges, and are made in Canada at the plant that makes other IMR powders.

There is some data posted on Hodgdon's web site.

Yay, more powders that will be out of stock

I've been playing around with CFE223 and if these are anything like that it will only slightly reduce copper fouling, not stop it all. In rifles that don't always have copper fouling it does seem to get rid of it but in rifles that have really bad copper fouling all the time, it doesn't seem to do much.

It's sad that these Canadian made powders are shipped south then re-imported in dribbles.

Not to mention the extra cost it adds...

I was thinking the same thing.....can't keep the powders they already make in stock....

Hodgdon doesn't make powder, they just repackage products made by a variety of different manufacturers from all around the world. The more products they can get, from more manufacturers, the better the chances are that we'll have powders back on our store shelves.

This is the first I've heard of a Canadian Powder manufacturer. Nice to know we still have one. I cant believe that someone like Higginsons cant just call em up and fill their magazine to the top. What would stip them?

I could be wrong but if im not mistakin the IMR plant here in Canada... is it not around the Hamilton area? Glad to see that there is still some thing being made here... Now to figure out why they stopped or if they plan on continuing a line to replace IMR 4007 SSC... maybe in an temp sensitve version lol... ok now im dreaming

Maybe I'm a freak but I actually get excited when new powders are announced!?

Naw, that's normal. Do you also get excited about a cartridge for no particular reason and then go looking for a gun to wrap around it? ;)

I know that AA5744 is made here as well. Even says so on the jug. Not sure if it comes out of the same plant or not.

There would be some sort of exclusive contact in place, no doubt.

Also is a lot less competition then there used to be. Hodgdon owns Winchester, GOEX and IMR product lines. Ramshot and Accurate are under the same brolly. I think Alliant still stands alone, and then there's that V-one I can't pronounce and never use because it's so bloody expensive.

And for the longest time now there seems to be nothing but Hodgdon corp stuff in any great variety.

I'm all for new powders and will likely try a pound of each. It's nice to see more powders in the Retumbo Burn Rate Range, but boy has it ever become crowded in powders suitable for the 223 and 308. I have to wonder how long IMR4320 and H380 will last.

Each powder introduced likely means one or more powders will be dropped in years ahead - it's all about sales volume. When SR-4759 was dropped I stocked up - wish I had with H870 as well.

The plant is in Valleyfield, Québec.

Hodgdon can't keep their web site up with all the powders they have.
For example, they show Suprform powder as being well suited for 243 Winchester, but no listings for most others, including the 7-08, which uses powders similar to the 243.
