Just worked on one of these barrels. The shank dimensions have been significantly changed. This one was 1.059 diameter, with 28 threads per inch. These are the finest threads I've ever encountered on a centerfire rifle barrel.

US made; my thread gauge is Imperial, and the 28 blade fit very well. Maybe there is a very similar Metric.
First one I've encountered.

The first wsms with the original 1x16 were distorting, if I recall related to the threads being interrupted by the rh raceway, so they switched to a 1-1/16x28 sometime in the late pre-fn production.

Bill Leeper was recutting receivers to a bigger thread when rebarreling wsms to avoid this before Winchester did as I recall.

That makes sense. The fine -28 threads maximize the root diameter.
Savage started using a larger shank diameter, probably for a similar reason.
