The regs have not changed but Savage made a semi auto 22 pistol available in Canada. The 25 round mag for there TAC22 is prohib because the mag fits the pistol. (unless pinned to 10 rds) Rugers new semi auto pistol uses the 10/22 mag. Will all high cap mags for the 10/22 be prohib when this pistol is available in Canada?

The new Charger has a 15 round mag, so it may not be sold here, at any rate, keep abreast of what the RCMP is doing. My LAR mags are prohib now for my 7615 as well, and its a pump! Had to pin them as well. The regs have not changed, its the way they have been interpreted by our National Police force.

I saw a vid on you tube, didn't believe it so I called the RCMP to check on any NEW prohib mag laws....they were happy to fill me in on the way the regs have been interpreted. the 7615 LAR mag is right in the regs as an example. Did not know I was breaking the law! Had an E mail from Bass Pro. The new charger equipped with 15 round mag. check it out for yourselves. Back to my original question, I will phone tomorrow and find out about the high cap mags for 10/22s

The 7615 LAR mag issue is used as an example in the regs

4. Magazines designed for one firearm but used in a different firearm

The maximum permitted capacity of a magazine is determined by the kind of firearm it is designed or manufactured for use in and not the kind of firearm it might actually be used in. As a consequence, the maximum permitted capacity remains the same regardless of which firearm it might be used in.

Example:
The Marlin model 45 (Camp Carbine) rifle chambered for 45 Auto caliber uses magazines designed and manufactured for the Colt 1911 handgun, therefore the seven round and eight round capacities are permitted. A similar example is the 10 round capacity magazine for the Rock River Arms LAR-15 pistol, regardless of the kind of firearm it is actually used in.
