So I purchased a new toy/project
Spanish made, 12ga (I can only assume the 12-70 stamp indicates a 70mm/2 3/4" shell)
Most obviously I need hammers and a fore grip, that said if anyone has parts/ knows of parts or can shed any knowledge on the shotgun itself im all ears!..or eyes I suppose.
Any and all info is welcomed, including what the stampings mean.

that said, any additional pictures of something in particular just let me know!

Cheers!

Don't know who made it but if that is an F1 stamped on the barrel flats, then it was made in 1960. Good luck on finding parts. Replacement generic hammers shouldn't be too difficult but the forearm will be another matter.

im going to have to do some rooting around at the gunshow this weekend. hopefully I can find some of the stuff i need.
I cant seem to find much info myself, nor can I find anything on the stampings.

I think you're pooched. That will almost be impossible to find, and will more than likely require significant gunsmithing to fit. Do some searching, but don't be surprised if you end up selling it as a parts gun.

Found a copy of spanish proofs. Here goes: The BP mark indicates 1931 or newer, optional smokeless powder proof with proof pressure of 12.090 psi. Crossed guns with 2 means 1929 -1931 Eibar proof mark. Minimum proof pressure is 8818 psi. Now it gets confusing, the F1 indicates year of manufacture as 1960 which sort of conflicts with the previous crossed guns mark with the 2 indicating 1929-31 proof mark. I would guess the the F1 trumps and this shotgun was built in 1960. As you say, this is a project gun. The tough one will be the forearm. Good luck.

The BP mark you have indicates the gun was manufactured after 1931. That crossed gun with the 2 indication may have lost something in the translation in the document I have as it reads that proof was only used between 1929-31. That does not jive with other marks. Any way the important thing is it is proofed for modern powder. The BP sure makes you think of black powder at first glance though.

Thank you so much, that is awesome!
I do have access to a machine shop in a sense, and a wood shop, wondering if I making a foregrip would be unrealistic? I have another sxs I could model after and shape to fit. As much as I would love to find one and repair an old one or even better just find a functioning one, I feel that may be difficult to do!

Are the hammer shaft square? If so, it's often possible to fit other make / style of hammers, you need to measure the flats of the shaft and get the correct size replacement hammers. Firing pin nipples are often "standard", so they are replaceable... you just need to find someone at gun shows who have a good supply of old shotgun parts.
