hi their

since i live in a shotgun only hunting area i was thinking of sprucing up my old 870 express. i was thinking of getting a 20" or 18" smoothbore for slugs and buckshot. i was also wondering if ghost rings would be good in the thick brush. and how can i install them on my gun? would epps carry ghost rings kits and barrels?? any other suggestions like side saddles? id like to keep the weight down.

thanx

I have an 870 Express 20 inch smoothbore. The only modification (if you can call it that) is a nylon 'side saddle' for the stock. To be honest, I didn't feel any mods were really needed for it to be an effective deer gun. With regards to shells, either buckshot or slug, I would recomend going and getting a bunch of different kinds and pattering and testing to see what works best for your shotty.

Others on this board may have other suggestions but, out of the box, if you do your part, an 870 Express with be an effective hunting shot gun in most scenarios that I can think of.
