Hey guys, I just ordered a new 2010 Bushnell 4200 Tactical scope. Has anyone seen the new ones up close yet? Apparently they changed them to a "blacked out" look. They got rid of golden lettering and logos and blacked out the entire scope. It's in the new catalog and they look pretty sweet so I ordered one from my local UFA Farm & Ranch Store, 6-24x50 $699 I think it still has the lettering and logos, they're just a different shade of black to blend in more for that concealed look... Anyway just wondering if anyone has handled one and what you thought of the new look...

4.5x30? Is the a new 4200 or 6500?
Thats the new 6500, they also have a new 4200 6-24x50 IR (Illuminated Reticle)

Their new tactical lines are shaping up it seems. I've owned the older 4200 tactical and was very pleased. They had a 3200 in store and the glass was crystal clear, aswell as exceptional eye relief. I can only imagine... the new 4200 should be sick. For the money this seems like a no brainier and perhaps some future competition for the bigger name brands...

BTW the price on the 6-24x50 IR was $939

I have a 6500 Tactical 4.5-30x50. Of course after 20x the image clarity and quality takes a nose dive but at 20x and under it's just as clear and bright as my Nightforce. I dial up my corrections...hit the targets....dial down to zero and bang....hit zero. I've done this many times so I've proven that it's repeatable. I've done box testing at 200 yards and it tracks 100%. The lack of elevation adjustment is something to consider.....I think it's only 60 or 65 moa....hopefully someone else here can verify the exact amount of adjustment. Anyways, with a 20 moa base you can get a 308 shooting 175's out to 1000 yards with the amount of elevation adjustment available. In conclusion it's a wonderful scope for anyone on a budget. At about 1/2 the price of a comparable Nightforce NXS it's well worth it in my opinion.

From what I can see the numbers on the turrets and the zoom adjustment even have a green tinge to them

This is true. The numbering is green and there is a mark for every turret revolution. You can feel and hear the clicks on the turrets. Maybe not as well as on a Nightforce but it's still noticeable. One thing I had to get used to was the 12 moa / revolution turret. It would have been nice to see a 10 or 20 moa turret instead.....for me it just makes any quick adjustment easier when the turrets are simplified at 10 moa/turn.

I have a 6500 4.5-30x50 and I really like. The tactical one wasn't on the market yet when I got it, which it would have been. Armorman is wright not enough up adjustment for a 1000 yds you need a 20 moa base.

I have looked through a few. My only comment is I personally find their reticles to be HUGE. It reminds me of trying to look through a wrought iron gate.

I cannot comment on their most important attribute - repeatability - as I have never evaluated one.

Otherwise, glass-wise they are not bad, but not exceptional.
