I was out shooting gophers today and got a new personal best. This little guy was about 200m away from me ( I measured it with the odometer of my truck).I used my ruger 10/22 with a simmons 4X32 and minimag hp's. It was slightly downhill and there was very little wind.
I took two shots to get the range down and then hit him with the third. I didn't know if I actually got him until I drove up to him. When hit he just sort of slumped over out of view.
As a side note while messing around getting the picture this guy popped up no more than 10 feet from me. It kind of gives a good comparison of the difference in damage between the two distances.
I'm pretty impressed by the acuraccy of the ruger as it is almost completely stock other than a VQ hammer, extractor, and a bolt buffer. I was shooting across the hood of my truck with my elbows resting. I couldn't come close to this for the rest of the day.
*Note: pictures taken with a crappy camera phone*
