New release - Sig Cross PRS Rifle

Looks pretty good to me, not sure how front heavy it’ll be and might need to add some weight to the rear to balance it out

One extreme to the other; 16 to 24". Why not just make it in 20 to make it the best of both worlds, IMO.

Then you'd have a rifle unsuitable for prs and most hunting (aside from a stand). PRS rifles have long heavy barrels which aren't suitable for hunting unless you're stationary. I think they hit it out of the ball part with the current cross for hunting. Mine has great balance, ergonomics and it's quiet accurate.

According to Sig's info: 14.2 lb [6.44 kg], ie basically 2x as heavy as the aluminium monolithic action Sig Cross. Apparently this one is mostly steel (apart from the fore-end)

Interesting that Sig went this way to create a similar but different model. I think it would have been just as easy to make it more modular with barrel options, fore-end options, butt-stock options and PRS-style bolt-on weights all still using the aluminium original version.

I don't know much about PRS guns, but I can't imagine folding stocks are a huge thing with that crowd.... a fixed stock adapter might be a good idea.

Agreed, while the stock locks up tight, it's an additional cost that has no benefit aside from having a more compact rifle for transport. I wonder what the price point will be.

Screw the PRS option and get crackin' on the .277 Furry cartridge.
If I knew for sure the .277 was for real and not vaporware I would have already switched my Tikka HNT 26 platform for the SIG one.

Sig just got a contract for rifles and machineguns chambered in the 277 fury. Maybe that's a good sign?

It is very... odd to take Sig Cross which is innovative because it is light and compact (6.8 lbs) and make into a heavy unwieldy brick (14.2 lbs). To do what? Compete against custom PRS rigs?

Maybe they are going to go towards a modular system where you can switch out barrel lengths, stocks and calibres on the same platform?

Otherwise I agree, the existing Sig Cross and it's folding stock are great for packing around but as a bench gun the pluses become minuses.

I’m guessing it will be priced under 2.5k to compete in the production division and not with the customs rigs

Folding stocks also open up alot more options for bags/cases, and are alot more trunk/ATV friendly when transporting them from A to B.
The high quality folders lock up tight, and shouldn't affect accuracy. Other than additional cost I see no downside to a quality folding stock on any style of rifle (if min OAL allows).
