Hey guys I'm a fairly new shooter and have decided to make it a long term hobby by purchasing my LNL AP.

I have read many manuals now... lymans 49th hornady ect..

I got my press set up, I got my 9mm RCBS carbides on and ready to go and the powder measuring to what i want.

I am using Power Pistol powder, CCI small pistol primers, Aim 115 gr RN projectile and once fired (by me) tumbled brass.

some concerns i have are:
- OAL in the books its giving me different OALs for different projectiles and powder gr.
I understand why but what is an ideal OAL for a RN 115 9mm bullet?
Right now im thinking 1.100 AOL with a charge of 5.8 gr of power pistol

And a second concern about my press, the sizing die doesn't seem to be aligned with the press.
when i pull the leaver down the case hits the rim of the sizing die and the press gets blocked.
if i give it a slight tap it falls straight into the die and works perfect.

I have tried so many things, taken it apart re assembled it but its the same problem, its not bad cause the case gets sized to proper dimensions but just a little annoying tapping each case.

maybe I should call their hot line for this concern.

Thanks in advance if it helps i shoot a CZ 85 and a CZ shadow both in 9mm.

For the CZ yes 1.1 is the max overall length. You should load up 2 or 3 dummy rounds and test them out before actually dropping primer and powder in them.

For that overall length I am thinking 5.8 is too much powder but I don't have a reloading manual in front of me. I find power pistol is really just that, powerful in my indoor range everybody always looks at me funny when I start shooting as the flash, and bang is a little over the top.

Edit:
I see the Alliant website list 6.7 as max load with a 115 grain HP bullet at an OAL of 1.125 so you should be alright.

I personally would start closer to 5 grains and just work your way up if you are at all unsure.

Is the shellplate tightened down all the way? Are the cases fitting into the shellplate properly.

It's unlikely that the die is misaligned...more likely that the case is someone misaligned.

Take all the dies out along with powder drop; put sizing die in another station and pull handle slowly AND NOT ALL THE WAY AS THERE IS NO HOLE FOR DE-PRIMING PIN BELOW. See if die alligns with case. It could be a bad bushing or die too.
Another possible cause is shell plate. Timing may be an issue as well.
Try the suggestions above and if need be call Hornady, they are very helpful.

OAL: you do want to load with greatest OAL possible for your gun. It'll greatly depend on bullet shape. CZs have tight chambers and bullet may hit rifling if loaded with OAL from a manual. You will have to shorten it then and lower powder charge so you don't create dangerous pressure due to lower case volume that's available for powder.
I load for my CZs with OAL ranging from 1.085" to 1.11", depending on bullet.

thanks guys!

I have tried the sizing die in other stations and it works great and i have tried the expanding die and seating die in station #1 and they are off as well.

so it seems to be something wrong with station 1 on the press. Im going to give them a call. I'll let you guys know what they say
