New rifle from Maple Ridge Armoury

From their IG post:

"The MRA V1-B Receiver Set is a novel, spring assisted, straight pull, magazine fed firearm design. It is composed of a proprietary upper and lower receiver and proprietary bolt carrier with integrated, swap-able left or right hand charging handle.
This receiver kit is compatible with a wide variety of commonly available firearm parts and accessories. In this way, the user can build a rifle to meet their specific utility and budget.

This receiver set is designed and intended to not be capable of discharging ammunition in a semi-automatic or full automatic fashion. Manual operation of the bolt is required to cycle the action between each shot.

The design is novel and is not derived from any restricted or prohibited firearm. Due to the action type and novel design, this receiver set meets the legal standard of a non-restricted firearm as per the Canadian Firearms Act and related Regulations.
The minimum overall length when assembled into a working, bolt action firearm must be over 26" to meet the standard of non-restricted.

Included Receiver Kit Components:
MRA V1-B Upper Receiver
MRA V1-B Lower Receiver
MRA V1-B Bolt Carrier
MRA V1-B Ambi Charging Handle
MRA V1-B End Plate
MRA V1-B Barrel Gas Journal Seal

I don't see a bolt catch and MRA has said that there's no way to lock the bolt back. I don't understand how that's OK.

Could definitely see owning one of these, but there's the question of whether to build it out as a 26"-minimum lightweight-build fun plinking gun or to use it as the base for something with a serious chunky long match barrel and scope and bipod. PRS tackdriver, maybe? Could potentially be even more accurate than its late lamented semiauto siblings.

I'm guessing MRA is thinking ahead to stocking up the barrel and foreend options that make best sense with this receiver, and very probably extra uppers like they did in 308.

That's what i want to get ! how long the barrel on that ?

9" - supposedly the optimum length for .300 Blk. I dunno about that, as they must make 16" .300 Blk rifles for a reason. In any case, my 9" shoots fine - right at 2 MOA out to 300 m at CHAS Edmonton. In reality, mine is intended to be a 100m and in, wildlife protection firearm as I am either in a wheelchair or on an ATV out in the woods, without the ability to dismount and run, climb or engage in a last-ditch wrassling match with a Black Bear! With that in mind, my bear rifle sports a 1-6.5x Bushnell LVPO for close-range engagements.

Hello Bartok. To change a 5.56 PAR over to .300 blk, is it a simple barrel only change? The bolt is the same for both correct? Or did you buy the .300 version?

The main reason there is a 16” 300 BLK barrel is for US customers who don’t want a pistol or who don’t want to go through the hassle of dealing with the regulations around short-barreled rifles.

It already exists. It is called the Troy Pump-Action Rifle. They are NR in Canada. Look into it, I really like my little .300 Blk Bear Rifle for the ATV. It weighs next to nothing and at 29" OAL with the stock pinned open, it fits neatly in front of the handlebars.

My issue with the Troy is shooting from prone.

I have a few good match barrels I could pull all my stuff off my MK12 mod 0 and still run it in prs
