New rifle needs new scope

Good morning!

I just bought a Savage 10tr (308) and now need a scope.

I like the high magnification because you can pretty much avoid using a spotting scope, but for this rifle I would like to get a sort of «#compact#» rifle. Probably a 4-12 or 14 or maybe a 10fix (Bushnell tactical..?)

For around 300-400$ (can be used), what would be your pick?

Oh... yes. Will be used for shooting paper with my 8 and 10 yo sons, and probably hunting in a blind.

Do you know how the AR line compares to the Engage ? Quality, optics, etc.

I have a 6-24 Engage and I like it. Only downside is the crosshairs being too light/narrow in my opinion (Deploy type)

I’m afraid i don’t
The Bushnell site doesn’t really tell you type of glass, or least that i have been able to find and good details between scope lines.

If you go by price, it seems that the Engage line is a little better.
I went to my favourite gun store and just looked at the different scopes in my price range.
The optics are clear, controls are smooth
Write ups on the gun magazines are reasonable
I punch paper and have been using Bushnell all my life. Never let me down
Best to go to a store that has the models your looking for and see what you like best
