Ordered and put deposit on my new hunting rifle today. Should have it in my hands in a couple weeks. On the way is a Tikka T3 Lite Stainless/Synthetic. Its getting topped off with Burris Signature rings and Burris Full Field 2 3X9X40. Fancy leather sling and Tikka case. Chambered in 270 WSM. Had the old Savage 99F in .038 out at the range yesterday, still shoots awesome and will make a great back-up gun.

Good choice. I would still have my T3 (also in 270 WSM) if I didn't give it up for a Steyr ProHunter.

The Tikka certainly works but the Steyr ProHunter rifles are better. Absolutely the best stock design I have come across for handling recoil.

That T-3 Package is the best value/quality in the Country... nice choice!
What is it worth in Alberta?
I have a great 140 accubond load worked up for that .270WSM if you want it.;)

Of all my rifles I own, the Tikka T3 S/S in 243 Win is my go to and has not had a pinch of accurizing on my behalf! It also wears Burris Signature high turn in rings and a Bushnell 4200 4-16x50 A/O. Just an ausome combo that puts a beating on the dirt pigs. I've gone to the double dove tail signature rings on my big boomers right down to my 270 Win for the extra strength. You might want to consider this for the 270 WSM. The T3 action is slick for sure. Get ahold of Redd for that hand load, I've seen it stretch its legs on his range out to 500 yards and the load VERY accurate out of his rifle.

I owned a Steyr prohunter S/Synthetic for a bit and did not like the stock at all...it felt really cheap and too much like a plastic toy. Unlike a Mcmillan or H-S precision or the likes. Each to their own I guess, maybe yours was a wood stock? I wanted to put a quality aftermarket composite stock on her but couldent find any:( ...so I sold it.

Yes, I ordered from Stoney Creek, its gonna be about 1230.00 plus tax. Might have saved $100.00 or so going to the city, but with the gas prices and having a local shop that I want to see stay open, I don't mind paying a little more to buy locally. Can't wait to get some pics and target groups posted. Then her first kill this hunting season.:D

Hemi, I have a t3, (that I bought from Stony creek) I put the Burris bases on it and found that the base screws would only go 3 threads deep into the reciever, that's not enough. I had to drill deeper relief holes in the base to let the screw head counter sink further. Now there is much more screw sticking down into the reciever.

You should check yours. Especaly if you buy the base from Stoney Creek, that is were I got my base's and no doubt they are from the same batch.

If you do have to do the same as me, becarefull not to drill too deep on the base, it could cause the screw to stick too deep into the reciever and rub on the bolt.
