I recently got myself a Zeiss HD5 2-10x42 that was a bit of an impulse buy since I got a good deal on it I think. Now has me thinking of getting a new deer rifle instead of replacing the scope on my current rig. Thinking I would like to go with a 308 and the early leader seems to be an x bolt medallion. Would love the new x bolt medallion safari model but could be a while coming to Canada and at likely twice the price. Let me know of other options out there for bolt actions in the same price range as the medallion, with 2 stipulations. I like nice wood stocks and no floorplates, detachable box magazines only.

Every time I buy a new rifle its usually at least 30 plus years old. I have only bought one "new" rifle ever and it was a current production Winchester Model 70. I just bought a 1956 Brno ZG47 and a 1962 Browning Safari grade, both in 30-06. Both the guns I just bought are in the same price range and built about 10 times better. Just some food for thought.
