Needing advice from experienced airgunners in regards to the issue.

Got a brand new Benjamin Titan GP in .22 from D&L yesterday and had time today to take it to the range. Expected a couple puffs of smoke and some loud retort due to the oil residues, but after several hundred rounds it is still puffing smoke after each shot.

Is this something I should be concerned about, or is it just a case of needing to clean it some more with dry patches?

Also, recommendations for pellets. I've gone through the H&N sampler pack, H&N Rabbit Magnums, Crosman Pointed, and JSB Predators and have been having poor performance thus far with all of them. I suspect it still needs a bit more breaking in, but if there has been some experience with these, advice is appreciated.

Cheers,
Joe

You sure it's smoke and not just a bit of water vapour? Compressed air will do that. Doesn't matter if you're not losing any velocity though.

Try the tired and true Crossman Premier HPs , I walked around a few cricles with a few different pellets and they were the trick. Also just picked up the H&N Crow Magnums and they are very promising and hit like a truck.

Just curious and not trying to be an azz, but did you give it a good cleaning and once over to get the manufacturing/shipping/packing grunge out of it?

Just got a tin of the Premiers, actually. Gonna give them a try tomorrow. Also going to try on the scope that came with it, just to see if maybe it is actually better able to handle the recoil over the Tasco I had tried.

And I did, but I think what I thought was a cleaning wasn't enough. I'll gives it a better scrubbing before heading out tomorrow.

Unless you are prepared to take it apart to clean and re-lube all you can do is shoot it. The lubes they put inside at the factory are responsible so cleaning the barrel won't change anything. Hopefully it won't be much longer till it clears up.
