I just bought a new Tikka T3 and I am curious as to what you guys think about this.

I typically use Winchester Supreme factory shells with the black polymer coated bullets. My old .300 Mag. put out some tight groups with these shells. However, I shot typical copper/lead bullets out of the barrel first before trying the Winchesters. Should I also season the bore of this rifle first with a few copper bullets the same way, or would any of you just jump right to the main bullets I'll be using?

i think barrel break in is a farce. some will disagree and that's ok.
i've had several new guns and i just shoot what i want, when i want and clean in between and it works fine. my guns have great accurracy.

I'm sure that you'd be pleasantly surprised with the groups that T3 will shoot even with a variety of non premium ammo brands.

Barrel break in can start some really good arguments. I kind of looked over what some of the barrel builders such as Shilen, Douglas and Lija have said and do what i`m comfortable with. If it makes you happy go for it and don`t worry what 47 experts say.

Very impressed with the rifle. After all of the reviews I've seen saying how accurate the T3's are, I decided to load the cheapest ammo I could find (grey boxes of Winchester) and the groups at 250 yards were just as tight as the 100 yard groups with the Savage 111 .300 Mag I got rid of.

Definately not the softest butt pad I ever saw on a gun, but what .300 doesn't kick lol

I have shot a number of T3's in various calibers. I have found them inherently accurate with any factory fodder.
In my humble opinion they are one of the best buys today of a premium rifle at a standard price.
Personally I reload for mine in 308 win and reload for accuracy over speed and my groups are outstanding.
I have a 4X Lyman sniper scope on mine(old but deadly) as I am trying to continue to keep this rifle lite as it was intended.
Doc.
