First time out with my new rig. Savage 110 ba in 338 Lapua mag. Ive seen and heard a lot about this gun on YouTube but there's nothing like trying it yourself. I put a razor hd 5x20x50 on it and I'm very Pleased with the setup. There is so little recoil from this you can really enjoy shooting. My son and I put forty rounds through it while cleaning it for a breakin. At 100 and 200 yds we were keeping it within a 2in circle compared to what I heard that its not accurate until after 300yds we were very pleased. Now to find a longer range.

2" inch at 200 yards? That is the same as my hunting Husky in .308. Are firing off hand or from a supported position? If it doesn't stabilize until 300 yards how do ever get that lost accuracy from the first 200 yards back?

We were benched but were not trained snipers. First day with the rifle so pretty happy. No idea how it can get better after 300yds it's just what I heard. If any one knows please let me know.

Try shooting prone.

There won't be any better accuracy at longer distances due to the bullet becoming more stable.

You may have a flinch. Not due to the recoil but due to the noise.

Yeah but can you punch through 1/2" thick steel plates at 200yds with your Husky.
Anyhow... Don't worry about the group sizes so much right now, that will come with more time behind the rifle and a better rest and especially if you begin to reload for it(I would definately suggest reloading if you don't already, especially for that calibre).

I'm not sure what twist is in that barrel but some barrels like the one I had on my TRG 42 would shoot 250gr better than 300gr. This is the stabilizing that happens when you have the proper twist rate for the weight of bullet you are shooting.

Enjoy your new rifle, it sounds like your very happy with your purchase.
