New rimfire series being created...rimfire race guns

The follks at CRPS have come up with a new concept and the Kent County Gun Club (Bouctouche, NB) will be hosting the test event on 1 Dec 19.

Rimfire Raceguns Steel Challenge - ONLY .22 LR Allowed
5 -stages with 5 steel targets per stage
Distances from 7m - 35m

Competitors shoot 5 runs per stage with best 4 times counting for score.

4 Divisions
Rifle Iron Sights
Rifle Optics
Pistol Iron Sights
Pistol Optics

200 rounds recommended per firearm


This event is the day after the CRPS event being hosted by Ken County on 30 Nov.

Signed up for both, will use my CZ 455 bolt for CRPS and my 10/22 for the Racegun.

I don't think it's a new concept per se, rimfire Steel Challenge, rifle and handgun, has been around forever. IIRC the National Championships are held in AB every year.

That said, good on the club for starting matches, I wish there were some around here to attend.

All you need is a pistol bay, allow steel and have at it. Any range set up for IPSC and let you run rimfire is ready to go.... now.

Speed shooting has really not been my thing but I know a spot where this can likely be set up.

Geez, I've invited you to come over and give it a try. Tom E. Gun and myself were setting up different stages in the back yard every week last summer but couldn't get anyone else to come and play. We'll be back at it next year I hope.

Just let me know when, it's getting a little late in the year but as long as it is not raining or snowing we could probably set up a stage for a day.

Buji, check out the Speed Steel matches at Mission and Chilliwack. Both club events have .22LR rimfire classes for semi auto pistols. revolvers and carbines. And each of those three are split between plain iron and "open" which covers red dots and scopes. Both are much the same involving 5 targets per pass so they are "revolver friendly".

Sadly at this point they are almost done for the year. The last one at Mission is coming up on Saturday the 19'th. And the one at Chilliwack coming on Oct 27th is the Airplane Creek Memorial match which is a special once a year match with a mix of steel and paper. But it IS rimfire friendly even if it is not just steel. And non members of both clubs are welcome to these matches. So gather up some friends and come on out.

A couple of stalwarts and I have started using pump and lever .22 rifles too. It's a real giggle when we beat a few of the semi guys that run into the odd jam. Chilliwack has even recognized us as a "non semi carbine" category! ! ! !
