Hey guys. Been on here awhile, figure it's about time to make my first post.
Anyways, I recently acquired an old Ross rifle along with some others from my grampa. I got the registrations in the mail today and it says it's a mark 3 B.
Tried googling it but unfourtanetly not much came up.
Just wondering if any of you have some useful info on this thing or atleast a link to a page that has info.
Thanks alot.

As you are probably aware, the IIIB Ross rifles were made for the British. They were used for secondary purposes, not front line service. Many were eventually supplied to various other users. What markings are on the stock?

"Swapped out" or "cut down"?

If it has just been cut down, there is a chance that unit markings stil could be in the woodwork, just waiting for you to find them. An ultraviolet bulb ("black light") can do wonders in this regard. You can get them for a buck at your local dollar store.

Mark IIIB has a VERY distinctive rear sight assembly.

If you can post some photos, we will know a lot more.

Brits might have used their Rosses for "secondary purposes", but there sure were enough of them at the sinking of the High Seas Fleet in 1919...... and some of them continued on in Service until about 1947. Many went to the Baltic countries immediately after WWI and were seized in 1940 by dear Uncle Joe when he decided to "protect" Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia; the Russians still have these, make them into target rifles to beat us with.

Rosses are fun.

The Mk IIIB had different sights, front and rear. Surprisingly the buttstock had nothing stamped on the right side, that was for the Canadian Army rifles.

You can tell if it's really a Mk IIIB by the s/n being stamped on the left side of the action, something like a letter with 3 digits under it.

The FRT is a bit hazy when it comes to Mk III, they say it's a 1910 and it has Mk III in the notes or something.

It's very hard to find a Mk IIIB in any kind of decent shape.
