New Rossi Puma action strength/pressures

Just wondering if anyone has info on what pressure the new Rossi Puma actions are rated for?

I'm looking to start making some hand loads for my new Puma in 454 Casull and I know this gun was taken off the market for a while then re-released so I don't know if they increased the action strength or not(assume they did but never know). :confused:
 
Factory loads gen. 50K cup if I remember correctly, so a factory chambered gun must be rated for factory ammo pressures. The use of hardcast bullets should help keep pressures within reason and a gas check design is necessary.

65,000 psi is the max rated presure for the 454 casull .

there is no magic formula to convert cup to psi pressures that i am aware of ......... 65000 psi is the same pressure most of the new magnum rounds are loaded for .


they are the strongest 1892 action out there right now .

the rossi rifles where never pulled from the market ....... and they where never pulled from the market due to not being able to handle the extreem pressure of the 454 round .

what happened was they merged with taurus .

previous to that rossi made rifles that where rebranded my puma .

they merged with taurus and things kind of got screwed up for a bit and it seems than now they are finally getting things straighten out .


there is nothing wrong or fragile about the rossi rifles , they are very well made , and their design is very well thought out ( they tweeked the 454 rifles a bit to make them stand up to the recoil ...... something about sheering off the magazine tube in the 45 colt version with " hot handloads " )

i know of no reason why they would not stand up to any published loads for the 454 casull , or any factory loaded rounds .


i bouught one a couple years ago and love it . one of the best purchases i ever made .

Ah excellent. Thanks for the great info. I was under the impression that there was some issues with the high pressure rounds and the action, but I'm glad to see that those worries were misplaced ;)

I was hoping to push the upper limits a bit as this is going to be my field gun, however for now I'll be staying inside the published limits.
 
It's a rifle factory chambered for a cartridge rated for 65 000 psi, and many/most handloaders who shoot the .454 have, at least, tested their rifles with full power handloads, or use them regularly. No reason to water anything down.
 
My 24 inch octo Rossi 44 mag M92 you can feel the strenght, it feel more solid than both my Marlin and my Trapper, the action is very slick and with 13 bullets in it you go as fast you can with the lever no hiccup no jam, good rifle, i did made a very good buy... JP.
