Hey, Gang!

Just picked up my new short-barreled SS GP-100 and I'm excited to go break it in on the weekend! It's my first wheel-gun, which makes the anticipation even that more intense! :)

I had one minor concern, however, that maybe someone here could help me out with... The ejector rod seems to have some play in it. That is, when the cylinder is in and everything is where it should be, the ejector rod will slide back and forth in when the gun is simply tilted forward and back. I just wanted to know if this sloppy fit was normal for Rugers or even for six-guns in general... Or should I be taking it back right away or getting it looked at?

It's a beautiful gun, but after it taking me so long to save up the schillings for it, I want to be sure I got what I paid for. Any insight would be much appreciated. Many thanks in advance!

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but I just checked mine for you and mine has spring tension on it all the time. Mine is also brand new I just picked it up yesterday & put 50/60 rounds thru it today, take it back and get another one good luck its an awesome gun to shoot try 38 special & 357 thru it :D

How much play are we talking about ?? Rotate the cylinder out, and check the play, is it the same as when the cylinder is closed in?

I have the same gun, and my play is approx 1/16 inch or less both cylinder in and out.

This is a great gun.

"...ejector rod will slide back and forth..." Take it back. Something is broken or missing. Most likely the ejector rod spring.

Thanks so much for the help, gang!

I would've described the play or slack on my ejector rod to be about 1/16" as well... It kind of seems here like the concensus is more or less 50/50 - hehe. I'd just like to get my hands on another one or two to see if they're the same as well.

+2 to having a small amount of forward / backward play, no more than 1/16". spring tension is there once the initial bit of slack is taken up and it doesn't seem to affect the extractor at all.
