Ok got a good deal on a savage 11/111 bth. Wood stock with thumb hole and its in 223. The rifle currently has a regular barrel. If I decided to change the barrel to a heavy barrel it wouldn't fit with this stock. So do I simply order a stock and barrel to fit heavy barrel? Will my current action and trigger fit that no problem?

Anyone customize one of these? Any advice thanks

Yes a stock invested for the savage action and a heavy barrel should just be a plug and play , trigger won't be an issue and like I said as long as the stock has the action inleted for your action your good to go . If you like the stock you have now , depending how much material is around the barrel you may just be able to have the channel opened up to fit a heavy barel

If you do purchase a stock, be aware that there are two "screw spacing" options for short action savages. A factory stock from a savage BTCSS should make for a drop-in fit to your rifle even though yours has a floorplate instead of of the DBM, besides any bedding you choose to do. Or, enlarge the barrel channel with a deep socket wrapped in 50 or 80 grit sandpaper, then smooth with finer sandpaper and finish. That would be my choice provided you like the factory stock.

You can change the barrel to a heavier profile
And just open up the barrel Chanel to fit the new profile
Assuming there is enough wood to hog out.
