Sorry gents, only pics I have of these 2 fine rigs are from the Savage 2007 catalog..

The 6.5x284 Norma is listed as the 12F Classic for about $1200-1300CDN.
Both models are single shots :( & have a 30'' barrel.

You can even choose your own type of target action.

Also new to Savage is the LE 10FP series with clips...pics coming soon.

Be aware that what you are looking at in the pic of the open class stock is prototype.
The last revision I was involved with ( last week) has a straight lower butt stock with a flat approx. 19mm wide, parallel to the bore.

GG, that is fantastic news on the stock revision as this one is horrid.

They will be a tough find in Canada as the US market is going to swallow any they can find for the early part of the season.

Also, with the street price estimated well over $1000 (est US $900 to 1100), they are not such a good deal. You can build up a similar rifle with a true match barrel for about the same money. Savage barrels are superb for a factory barrel but for essentially the same money, I would prefer a Gaillard/Smith/McClennan/McPhee pipe.

If the street price here is around $800 to 900, then a great buy.

Best part is that Savage will be offering these actions as a component. Shipping in the US this Spring, they are priced really well for a near custom quality action AND trigger. Right now about 1/3 the cost of a BARE custom action alone.

Not sure if any Cdn dealer is going to try and import the action but if building a comp rifle for F(O) and want a Savage based single shot action, this might be a way to go (hope pricing doesn't get too inflated by the time they get up here).

It is really great to see a mass producer such as Savage start to produce rifles utilizing the latest features etc., I.E. right bolt left port. Their marketing people are doing wonderful things.

We have a number of the single shot target actions on order already. They have even enhanced their accutrigger to start at 6oz.

I'd be willing to bet you may not remember where you spent your first nickle, but you damn sure know who's got it.

Savage bare actions? Neat! Do you know which ones? The single-shot LH eject ones too? Short/long/magnum? Which dia. (standard Savage diameter, or the WSM/RUM diameter?)

WSS has order 2x in 6.5x284 & 1x .308..

You can custom order your action from the limited info I have at the moment..Saw something about a .223 diameter left or right eject & right hand bolt..

Here is what I know at this point.

Target actions - S/A only. Same action found on the new precision target rifles.

Standard and .223/222 bolt faces.

Two configurations - right bolt - left port and right bolt - right port

NEW accutrigger - down to 6oz... yes 6oz!

Stainless steel although I have been told verbally that the Cr Mo - blued version will be available.

To go to the short mags will require the port to be opened a bit and a new bolt head! Guys are already having this done and the modification is simple.

From SniperCentral:
Savage is showing that they have a new for 2007 F-Class factory rifle chambered in 6.5×284 Norma. This is one of the very few factory rifles chambered in this long range cartridge. It would be great to see this cartridge continue to grow in popularity. Loaded with the sierra 142gr or Lapua 139gr, this cartridge is great at long ranges. Of course, the other specialty VLD & ULD bullets also work great (some even better).

I spoke with the Powder Keg in Kamloops and he is bringing in two of each bolt face. He says his price will be ~$650. I also handled one of the Long Range Precision Varminters with the Hirsch stock and it looks pretty sweet. I would love to know what sort of real world results are happening with these. If that is the action they will be selling on its own, I will have to get one. Remains to be seen if they will need truing or not.

That is a smoking good price for a complete F class rifle, stock and light trigger in a 6.5-284. The suggested MSRP in the US is much higher but....

If it shoots like a typical Savage, it will go 1/2 MOA or better once properly bedded. That is more then competitive.

Please let us know when the rifles come in. Any ETA?

GT and I played with the rifles at SHOT. The trigger is SOOOO light it engaged a few times when we were just closing the bolt knob.

That sounds like an accident waiting to happen. This with a display rifle for new products... where are the lawyers?
