Hi folks... So I swung by one of my favorite gun shops today.... I was sniffing for a deal... So the storekeep offered me 400 rounds of 5.56 FMJ Nato ammo for my Axis today for a f'in song and a dance... Well I hummed and hawed... Then said WTF GIMMMMMEEEEE! So, I went home and called Savage Arms up to see what they said... They guy was a major prick on the phone.. He said that he would neither confirm "NOR DENY" that the Axis is okay to shoot 5.56mm FMJ NATO ammo... Then he went on the bloody blah blah blah about Savage arms only recommends high grade factory ammo.. Zzzzzzzzzz huh what? sorry I dozed off there..... so anyways, I loaded up the Axis and my NATO ammo and went to the range and blasted one shot, checked the primer to see if it bulged or popped... NOPE... tried another, inspected the primer and spent casing... All good, then went on to shoot 28 more rounds. It was flawless....
Lots of people will jump on me about "proper ammo for the rifle" well if that's your stance you are not invited to post here, unless you have first hand proof that you had a failure such as video or photographic proof. All I'm saying is that my axis shot this stuff without incident.
