Hi guys,

Looking to see if anybody can put some light on the new Savage Edge XP in 22-250??

Actually have this gun on the way to me as the price was so attractive. Can't seem to find a whole lot of info on this rifle maybe because it is NEW. Anybody know the goods and the bads of this one??

Basically I've always wanted a 22-250 to add to my safe and after looking for a Savage combo in .308 for a friend I fell accross the Edge and couldn't resist the $330 price tag.

As for the ammo I will reload 50g Hornady V-Max as I already load for my .223 which should be cost affective.

Thanks

Paul

If it matters at all to you...
I bought an Edge package in .223 because of the price. Its an ugly gun IMO, but i get 1" with American Eagle 55grs. Im Happy

Great gun for the $$, enjoy the same results for my .223

Fugly as all get out, but I'm sure it'll shoot as good as every other Savage. Tempted myself. Stevens guns can be had for the same price and aren't half as ugly. (once the cheezy grey stock gets replaced or painted)

Young guy bought an Edge in .308 Win at the local shop. Says he's shot a bit of game with it already. And that it's very accurate right outta the box. He's very happy with it for the money.

I'd like one in .243 Win and another in 7mm-08 just to play with myself.

NAA.

Work with a guy that just bought one in 223, was shooting around 1" out of the box with 62gr. The trigger was horrible. He took it apart and stoned the sear and trigger surfaces and it made a huge difference. The range was down in the afternoon so he never got a chance to see how much that helped his accuracy. When shooting off bags before the trigger job you could watch the crosshairs drop approx. 1 1/2" at 100 yds when you squeezed the trigger. Was quite something to see, quite a bit of flex in the stock. The groups were all a vertical string, maybe 1/2" horizontal.

I just bought one in 223. It was the price and not the looks that got my attention too. I have only fired 10 rounds through it yet but very happy so far. The scope I installed was only to try it out once I get the scope I want on it, I really give it a work out with my loads. Good luck and have fun.
