Hello, I've seen some new style Savage magazines floating around that uses a push button latch on the floor plate instead of the molded plastic C clip. Picture below. I've already snapped a clip in the cold so wondering if anyone knows where I can find them.

I picked one up like that as a spare for my Axis in 223 at Cabelas in Barrie. It does interchange with the C-clip type mag if anybody is wondering. If you are only finding the old style locally, you may have to wait for them to sell out their stock before they get the new style in. They do seem like a good improvement over the old style.

Has feeding and everything been fine with that new style? The factory axis and similar mags have always been just imo. When i worked at cabelas, some you nearly had to smash with a hammer to keep them in place....

I have had no issues with it at all, but I can't say I have tested it extensively. The metal body and the follower appear to be the same as the original. Looks like they just redesigned the bottom plate and release. I pull the release button back as I insert it and it pops right in. No issue with inserting or feeding with the original either though, so if you have trouble with the original, the new style may not solve your issue.

I assume these will fit the 111/116 also so I may have to pick one up, what is the price range folks are seeing? I almost bought a spare mag years back but then they exploded in price and I held off. With this new design it may be worth buying one.

There are a few different types of mags for the 11/111 and 16/116 rifles. Apparently some of the new models use the same style as the Axis. I have a 111 in 7mm RM that has the release as you describe. Some older versions had a release button on the side of the fore-end.
