I have a nice rifle ... Sig M400 Enhanced 5.56 ...

Right now I have a cheap optic that was fun at the start but isn't particularly clear or accurate when I try to stretch the shots out over 100 yds.

So I want to buy something that will give me a good clear view out to longer distances, target shooting only out to 200 or so yds, maybe longer as my skill level progresses.

I have done a bunch of research and I think I want a 3-9 or 4-12 ... with parallax adj, objective lense adj and exposed turrets.

I like the Nikon series with the BDC (bullet drop compensator) reticle paired with the Spot On app ... but am fully open to any other suggestions ...

Price does matter, looking to spend in the $300-$500 range ... if that is realistic.

Also, where is a good place to buy optics online?

Thanks

There are some great budget options out there right now. I use a Bushnell AR Optics 3-12. It's been great so far out to 300 yards - surprisingly clear for price, BDC reticle and side focus.

The only critique so far is that the turrets are a sometimes a little mushy i.e. Individual adjustment clicks sometimes can't be felt clearly.

i use the nikon M-223 1-4x20 Point Blank Reticle and love it. i shoot out to 500m with it.

don't get me wrong when i get the extra cash to by an elcan i will.

for me it was a toss up between the bushnell ar 1-4 and the nikon. $300 dollar range.

the wicked eye relief of the nikon won me over.

Nice, like this one ... where did you get it?

Thanks ... what kind of groups can you get at say 250 yds?

Got it from Ellwood Epps. These scopes can be hard to find.

Check out the AR Optics line-up from Bushnell. Great clarity, tactical knobs, side parallax adjustment on most models. BDC reticle with dials calibrated for .223 // 55-grain loads. Prices under $300.00 for most models. I've had a 4-12x on a Ruger 10/22, a CZ bolt-action .22 LR rifle, an AR in .223, and an HK SL.8. Highly recommend the Bushnells. Check in with Epps for prices and availability on models.

You bet, I've sent them an email, thanks

I have a Bushnell AR 1-4x24mm PCL and recently an AR 4-18x scope. The 1-4x is going on its second season and holding up fine. Can't complain since it's FFP and $300. The 4-18x was surprisingly quite clear glass as well. I haven't shot with that scope as yet to give any feedback.

You can also contact our local CGN vendor http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/forumdisplay.php/231-plainSight-Solutions if interested in 'em.

The Bushnell AR series is actually pretty decent for the price.

I was recently shopping for a 1-4 or similar, actually wound up ordering a HiLux CMR1-4 from Wolverine. Great reviews, but seems to be a company nobody talks about. Should fit my RFB just dandy!

When i got my DD MK18, i ordered a S&B 1X8 for it but in the mean time, i had a brand new Hilux 1X4 CMR green left so i installed it, since that time, i liked it so much, i never changed back to the S&B, kept it instead for my custom AR-10 to come in June this year... Hilux is really a clear and exceptional scope for a small price.. Just saying. JP.
