I'm thinking about uppgrading the scope on my 700 from a Bushnell 3200 10x to something with a little more magnification. I was thinking about this: http://www.vortexoptics.com/product/vortex-viper-hs-t-6-24x50-riflescope-with-vmr-1-moa-reticle

Any thoughts? Is there something else I should look at for that price? That would be the most I could spend.

I upgraded from my 3200 10x to a Viper PST 4-16x50 MRAD and I'm very happy with it. I ended up getting it off of the EE for a great price (good way to save some money). I'd check out the Sightrons though, which is what I would have went with if I didn't get the deal on the Vortex, and I'm sure many people will come along and rcommend the same.

Some will say vortex is sh!t, but I've had good results with mine. My PST 6.5-24x50 MRAD will shoot 1" groups or better at 100yards aslong as I do my part. I say go for it.

I'd take advantage of the nightforce deal Hirsch has/had going on right now. Optics are something you won't regret spending money on. I have two Vortex PST's and a Nightforce. The nightforce is one scope I will never sell.

IMO, save your money.

Edit: To clarify, I'm not bashing the Vortex PST's (I bought them for a reason and have liked every Vortex scope I have owned, they are good value) but rather I don't see the point of going from one entry level scope to another entry level scope. The 10x will suit you fine until you can afford and are ready for something better (keep an eye on the EE for used nightforces or a used vortex, a lot want way too much $$$ but there are deals out there to be found.)

That is a Smokin deal! No zero stops but meh. I have the 5.5x25x25 with the MOAR reticle paid $2100 and a 2.5x10x30 with the NP1 @$1400. It might be time to upgrade the 2.5x10!

I grabbed one of those 5.5-22x56 scopes, and they have high speed turrets which for me is ideal. My local range only goes to 600 yards, so I don't even need to turn the elevation turret half way around when zeroed at 300 yds, which make it really easy to keep track of what you dialed on. :) Don't really miss the zerostop option.

I wouild agree fully I have owned and still own Nightforce you will not need to upgrade the 5.5-22x56 will take you past 2000 yds clearly

If you don't want to spend $1500+ have a look at Sightron. I have a Nightforce NXS 5.5-22x56 and a Sightron SIII 6-24x50 and you can barely tell the difference going back and forth from one to the other. The NF is built way tougher and has some nice features the Sightron doesn't but when looking at bang for the buck I don't think there is much out there than can touch Sightron.
Give Jerry at Mystic Precision a call or email. His website has all models with pricing.

Yes .... +1 for Sightron .....

I'm biased coz I love them. Bang for the buck for sure.

The nightforce has illumination, whether you need it or not. If you compare the price to Sightron IR, the difference is not as bad (but still a lot). The resale on the nightforce will be MUCH higher a year later if you decide its not for you. I've had sightron scopes and they were great, but if you held them both in your hands at the same time, you would put the sightron down. Just my opinion. The glass on the sightron is right there with the nightforce (or better), in every other area, the nightforce excels.
