Just picked up two new scopes from a buddy and am trying to decide what guns to mount them on. First one is a Mueller Optics 8.5-25x50mm Eraticator (illuminated red dot) and Bushnell Banner 6-24x40 mil dot.

One will eventually be going on my M14, the other will be going on my Baikal 7.62x39 single shot for deer and coyotes

I got these pretty much for free so was going to just try to use them. Maybe they'll just wind up on the ee soon.

The price was right but IMO neither would make a great deer scope, the added weight for one but more important there is too high magnification on the low end. A scope with a low end mag. of 3-4x would be better for deer.

i can't say anything about the baikal, but from what i gather (not owning one) those m14's are notoriously hard on scopes, i would assume it will eat either of those.

Hey Frumpy , P&D has a sale on the bushnell elite 3200 10 x 40 tactical ....and Bushnell has a $75 rebate on them.
I just picked up another one of these scopes as for the money they cant be beat. P&D reg price is $261 on for $209 and then take off another $75 = CHEAP PRICE for a good scope !!

Only prices I could find on both of the scopes online (Canadian stores) are around $300 each, want to trade one :)

You bringing yours out this weekend?

That's what I figured, I wonder if one of the cheap 1.5-4x Bushnell banners would be alright or even just a cheap(er) 3x9 bushnell like what come on some of the Savage package rifles. Given that I traded some stuff that was collecting dust I think I came out on the better end

Not to argue, "just curious", given the deal, whats the downside ?

The high magnification combined with an inexpensive scope will mean a very dim image, especially in low light. There will also be the added weight and large size of the scope. A compact fixed 4x will be lighter, more durable and much easier to carry around.

Check with P&D (phone them) and see if their sale price is still on ....sale price was $209 and then take another $75 off with the rebate from Bushnell.
The range that is scheduled for this weekend is Quebec range so no .308....I could bring out the M-14 I have my first one mounted on so you could check it out if you want , or I could just bring out the new scope I got from P&D...send me a pm before Sat and let me know .

Just called P&D (nice guys). They have about a dozen left at that price plus the mail in rebate, $35 shipping to Ontario. It works out to about $200 shipped and taxed. I'll definitely have to check yours out tomorrow if you don't mind bringing it (sent you a PM).
