Before I buy, I like to see what all you guys are getting in comparison to the pics posted by NS. Also according to NS new statement below, they corrected when they were made, they now said the were all made in the late 70s and NOT in the 90s so therefore they may all be the same. Please post pics of your new purchase here, thanks. My LGS hasnt received theirs yet.

update, i got one from international supply in surrey, BC for $500.

We can confirm that every single one have matching serials and they were made in late 1970s.

Interesting...Tenda has these in - used same photos, but indicated in their listing that the rifles were all circa late 1990s. The Tenda subforum has a thread on these where some members have posted their photos of their guns. Sounds like the feedback so far is pretty positive from recent purchasers. Below link is page 5 and beyond of the thread which shows buyer photos.

the pics posted by a member indicated it was made in the late 70s, not 90s.

I noticed the Cabelas site had SKS's in. They haven't had any for ages!

I'm assuming a big shipment came in to the country recently

so recent that my local dealer is one of NS's dealer and they havent received their yet.

Currton is so excited because he wants the hand guard. Honestly, what's wrong with those dealers? The picture shows a SKS in mint condition and then they have all that negative description.

From the Cabelas site:

Perfect for restoration enthusiasts, or a unique challenge, these Surplus SKS Rifles await confident refurbishment skills to bring them anew. Purchase includes cleaning kit, oil can, and one stripper clip.

WARNING: These rifles must undergo significant cleaning to ensure safe and reliable operation.

Purchase indicates understanding that the rifle will require thorough cleaning and/or refurbishment, including: processing the removal of grease and oil, potential surface rust, imperfections to stock, bore, bolt, barrel; and/or other minor repairs.

ya know me too well, lol. yup i need the french tickler. lol.

i dont get all the warning and BS so im going to my LGS once they list them.

Those ammo types are still around, especially 7.62x39. It's not completely out of production/rare

You also can't find a centerfire semi-auto rifle for that cheap a price either. Only the Chiappa M1-9 and Hi point carbine are cheaper but the Chiappa has feeding problems from it's magazine design and the hi-point while modern only has 5 round 9mm magazines and is quite bulky in build and feel.

That's always been one of the SKS's strengths is that a person can get a semi-auto centerfire for less than a grand.

its great but with the shortage of 7.62x39 and 7.63x54R is it a good buy dis days

what shortage of 7.62 x 39?
It's availlable at many retailers. Heck even my local LGS in small town bc interior has at least 20 cases stacked up on display at all times. His prices are a bit higher but seeing as none of the couriers that service here will transport personal ammunition purchases..... his prices aren't terribly out of line.
I stocked up years ago so only buy when i see deals too good to pass up.

whats shortage?

if there was a shortage, would cabelas have their bulk 7.62x39 1100 rds on sale last week? i think not.

The Chiappa-M1-9 had feeding problems years ago, like 8 years ago. The newer once feed as good as the Ruger PC.

I don't understand how they could have fixed it though, it still is the same straight insert magazine feed design from the old model to the newer models. Which isn't how a Beretta magazine is supposed to be fed into a chamber, handgun magazines are designed to be fed at an angle like the FX-9 or Ruger PC Carbine which cants the magazine forward to mimic a pistol grip. The Chiappa uses a straight up insert where the bullets are pointed upwards instead of inline with the chamber, increasing the chance of the Bolt not grabbing the rim of the case and just slamming straight into the middle causing a Failure to feed.

I mean it can still work, god knows I still have mine kicking around somewhere but it is a funky design which isn't as reliable as a Ruger PC carbine

Lots of x39 online and local BP has got lots in this past month but it's at $499+tx. Price is still sorta high but even shipped I was at $0.40 / round. Better if you're near a store that's at $450 or so.

So i had to travel far far away to get one of these. I selected the best of 5 on the rack. all factory 26, all in serial number 23 mil, all matching and all unissued. my first french tickler, lol.

THE GOOD. best 1 of 5.

THE BAD, 1 had rusted trigger.

THE UGLY, two stocks were repaired.
