Hi folks! Just recently found this forum and have been reading voraciosly ever since! I'm amazed it even exists, seeing that all you ever see in Canada is the 'guns are evil' message...
Anyway, as the thread title suggests I'm returning to the world of shooting after a bit of a hiatus (I let my FAC expire and never renewed). Now they call them PALs and I have to get me one. I will also join a club if I can find one close enough, and get memberships with the CSSA and CFA.
My interests are mainly centre-fire rifles of the military/historical persuasion but I think I might get a restricted permit (while I still can) and try out the handgun end of the hobby. Shot a few when I was State-side a few years back and it was a lot of fun!

Cheers:shotgun:

"...have to get me one..." Hi. The worst part is that any previous experience, even military, means nothing. The stupid courses are expensive too. However, given your experience, you can "challenge" the tests. Do the restricted at the same time as the non-restricted. Saves you a bit of money.

Welcome aboard! :D
And welcome back to the sport. You shouldn't have a problem finding a club in your neck of the woods.
By all means, go for your restricted as well.
If nothing else, it shows the government that there are all lot more of us out here than they'd like to acknowledge.

Hello from Edmonton!!!!
Yep, like the other guys said. Get your restricted ticket and get at least one handgun in your safe with the shortest possible barrel over 4 1/8" before they pull anymore of the grandfathering junk. That is, IF they ever do it again. One thing is for certain. The rules will not remain the same forever.:D
