Long time lurker here. I love this board.
I just picked up my first pistol last month. It is a STI Trojan 5.0 in .40 S&W.
I now have 250 rounds down the pipe and am just getting a handle on how to hold it in order to remain consistant.
Here is my best target from Sunday with 10 rounds in it from two mags loaded with five rounds each of American Eagle 165 grain .40S&W.
25m range, 62mm centre to centre.
Would the 9mm Trojan be a more accurate pistol?

It is the shooter made the holes at the target. I don't see the 9mm is more accurate round than the .40. 9 mm is a little easier. That said if you are shooting .45ACP, you should have better result.

Nice groupings at 25m, seems like you skill level/accuracy is just fine, a 9 or .45 would be just as accurate, it's how you handle and "own" your gun/caliber that makes it accurate, not caliber.

Hunterson - your shooting is excellent. I suggest you think about getting real target quality gun and try competing at some point.

Wendel,
I have not had any real problems with feeding and I am using the factory STI mags, but I have has 3 instances where the slide failed to close all the way on a fresh round preventing the gun from firing. I did some reading and it seems to be common for a new pistol that is tight as the STI until it is fully broken in.

NAA,
How did you guess?
I assume it is something with my sloppy technique. I did take some video of that session and I am leaning back slightly, chin down and head tilted to the left and not square to the target (right shoulder closer to it than the left).

It seems I am still very conditioned to rifle and bow shooting.

That target was the last and best of the day, starting off I could just keep them all in a 6 inch circle.

Shooting to the right could be finger position on the trigger and/or a lack of consistent trigger press- a little quicker at the last stage. Pressing the trigger should be like breaking a glass rod- a smooth consistent trigger press where the actual firing is not anticipated.

Nice shooting! Here is my first 50 rds through my M&P45 at 25feet..... A few double taps in there but wow, I really am terrible!
