New Shooting Bag Idea........thoughts????

We had a special guest drop by to talk about shooting bag idead/features .All I will say is that he is DCRA Hall of Fame member an 2 time National Service Conditions Champion;)


One design we are still working on.

The other was a making a bag similar to the one he uses as a rear bag in competition that has a some sort of padded flap that goes over the hand to protect your hand from getting bruised/pummeled by the bottom of the stock.

So we built a new bag with a hand shield feature. All side of the bag are usable and the flap doesn't get in the way.

Specs:7.5" X 6"
Weight: Approx. 1.5 lbs.
Fill: plastic pellets
Material: MilSpec Cordura and webbing.










 
Well i'll give you my 10 cents:
It looks good, it seems to be a great idea, but how about showing a little more engineering.
How does your hand sit inside holding it? Is it super easy to pull your hand out to change the round? can you make a video and talk about the operation of the bag, while showing it being used?

I am quite interested by the way.

This is in no way meant to be negative but that sounds like a solution to a problem that doesn't exist. That being said I don't have the experience of the individual you're describing so take my comment for what it is, an opinion. It's just that I've never myself experienced or heard of someone experiencing that issue. I do like the size of the bag and really like the strap feature which I have on both the rear bags I own.
 
I think the hand in the bad would add unnecessary pulse to the shot, decreasing stability. But, that would be relative to the shooting discipline engaged.
 
I like the idea. That is my biggest problem with the mcmillan stocks I have used. The bottom the of the grip is not flush with hand hook. I like to shoot as low as possible and I have ended up with decent bruises on the back of my hand from the grip. Same thing with some sporter stocks.
Interesting way of tackling the issue as opposed to just sucking it up like I default to doing.
 
The struggle is real... I found that Mcm "a5" stalk withe the hook were the worst. My solution was to just buy a A2. But I guess with this I could shoot the a5 like all the cool kids.
