I got one of the first test rifles in the latest new cartridge offering from Winchester. This is an absolutely marvelous piece of technology with all the latest manufacturing techniques available today. The steel finish is incredible in a deep Rusty Patina, inside the barrel too! The Wood is outstanding as well, they must leave them out-standing in the weather for a couple of months to gain the highly prized fatigued-look that is now in vogue.

The action is the latest in new tech as well, the KanOpiner Design is a manual lever that is faster than my three-legged Dachsund and as smooth as B-gravel. This action locks up as solid as the front bumper on a 64 VW Bug.
Best part is it will open a can of beans just as fast.

The highlight and whole reason for this modern rifle is the new cartridge developed by Winchester the .30WCF (Winchester Cluster Fauk) The Cluster Fauk was developed in the same manner as the short mags.... by ripping off an old design and making it sound new again. This technique is a highly successful research and development ploy used by the successful Manufacturers today:cool:
Check it out... couldn't get a pic of any ammo... no dies or factory offerings are available yet in .30WCF....;)

You wish you had one.... I was gonna post it in the "bragging rights" thread but I didn't want to embarass anybody. :D

That old beater kinda reminds me of you. Not too pretty, but it'll get the job done in a pinch. :D

Nice rifle!

That 30 WCF was indeed a "short mag" when it was introduced. Just like today a lot of guys - most of whom had never shot the cartridge - were #####ing about the "high velocity" light bullet ripping up meat. It was also considered "unsporting" by some as a hunter didnt have to get close to an animal to shoot it. ;)

As that particular rifle was also one of the first stainless firearms ever built I would be surprized if it didn't clean up real nice. :D

Or you could recycle the nickel steel from it...............nickel is trading at just shy of $15/lb US today. Some of the highest prices it's ever traded for..........I love working in a nickel mine right now, big time bonuses coming my way every quarter :D:D :D

Well it's still a wildcat at this point since no brass or dies are available yet, but apparently you can fire the old .30-30 Win in this new short mag.

It is in the top three.... for sure. I am going to put a muzzle break on it... I am told that even with high efficiency black powder the Winchester Cluster Fauk has tremendous recoil velocity.
I am thinking about one of those Lazzeroni style breaks.

I'll give you five bucks for that rear sight...........to get it out of the way for that 60 mm objective bell on your scope.........

Doug

PS) Did you buy that at the Eganville show yesterday, I did not see you there???

If it can safely fire I'll give yah $20 for it and cover shipping on my dime...I'm looking for a project Rifle. :)

You really must pull your head out of that pail of old bolts sometime and see the good stuff.

No I didn't get to Eganville Doug... I woulda come and saw you for sure.
Actually I use that rifle as an instruction /examination rifle... it is deactivated and it is good learning tool for the students. They learn a bit of history when they try to find the ammo for it... Some of them already know but I catch more than enough.:)
