I'm new to this sport and need a shot gun for deer hunting and waterfowl (just about anything)
Need to keep it under $700.

Can you give me some suggestions please.

I would suggest looking at a combo set up. 2 barrels, one is smooth and the other is rifled. easy as pie to swap from one to the other.

at LeBaron, the 870 Express or the Express Super Magnum combos are ~$500.
26" vent rib barrel for waterfowl, 20" rifle-sighted, fully rifled barrel for deer.

up to you whether you want 3" or 3.5" capability.

Benelli makes a great 3.5" shotgun in the Nova/SuperNova, however barrels are very expensive, so unless you want to stick with smoothbore for deer youre going to be well over your price limit if you go for 2 barrels.

Mossberg Roadblocker?

Oh wait, one of us in the wrong shotgun forum :p

I kid, but you will get more pertinent info in the sporting and hunting shotgun section. A lot of the guys who know a lot about shotguns, don't even give this section a second thought. You'll never go wrong however with an 870, especially if you get a smooth and rifled barrel combo.

I second the 870 option unless you don't want a pump action. I am not sure about the Mossberg 500 3 barrel combo, but the price is good ($550 for 3 barrels).
