Recently purchased a new slug gun with a really long name, Remington 870 SPS Shurshot Super Slug Gun. Regardless of the name, I am familiar with the 870's and own a couple already. I was looking for a slug gun specifically for sitting on a stand and shooting over large open areas with scattered bush in-between, so bedding areas and little hideyholes for big bucks. I just wanted to upload some pics of the new beast and get some peoples opinions of it and or if they have any experience with one, just to see if I made a good buy or a poor choice.

This one has a 25.5" barrel that is pinned to the receiver with a screw, I'm assuming for keeping it zero'd as it isn't a cantilever mount scope mount but rather a weaver type that is drilled and tapped to the receiver.

I put a Leupold ultimate slam 3-9x40 on it with the S.A.B.R reticle, which has drop compensation from 50yrds to 300.

It also has ultrgon rifling, whatever that means.

Nice Shotgun, I picked up the same last year but I'm running a Bushnell trophy xlt DOA. Pretty pleased with it so far. Curious what your running through it? I've gone through Remington, hornady and Winchester but believe it or not I'm getting great results with challenger shells. Any-ways let me know what your having success with if you don't mind. cheers.

Try slow slugs. Remington has a 1 in 35 twist. Try copper solids, a slower slug for a low twist rate. Probably explains why the previous poster had good results. Slow slugs also from lightfield if you can find them. No point in having a nice gun if you can group worth of crap at 100. My h&r slug hunter 20 ga can group 2 inches without even trying because it has a faster twist rate so they newer slugs work. Slugs are damn expensive and advice can save you big money. My mossy 930 loves rackmaster and copper solids. Also has a 1 in 35 twist rate.
