Hello knowledgeable folks. Hopefully you can help me with my recent flight of fancy.

I am hoping to either outright change the sights on and H&R Handi-rifle, 500 S&W if this matters.

I am thinking the front sight will be replaced with a metal base. Any suggestions for a base that will take a standard 3/8th front blade?

I am curious about one thing with the rear base; if it does not work out or entails a lot of work I will just go with the skinner reciever sight.

My hope was that I could replace the blade in the adjustable rear sight with an express style shallow v blade. Would the Williams version of this blade drop right in to the rear sight? It looks similar but I do not have the rifle onhand.

If not can anyone suggest a fixed single blade sight in the same style?

I put new sights on a .45-70 Handi. I found that with the barrel dia. of the .45-70 Williams standard rear sight (you pick the sight type insert) or the Williams rear mounted WGRS peep worked well. For the front sight I mounted a Williams shorty ramp sized for a 20 bore shotgun. You can have these sights soldered on or D and T new mounting holes. The peep bolts right on. Worked very well. I do not recommend the Skinner sight. Well made but the Williams was more adjustment friendly.

Thanks for your feedback Darryl.

This will likely be a one load gun, for this purpose I am a big fan of the skinner sight.

I was wondering if the sight inserts for williams bases will work on the H&R stock sight but this does not appear to be the case.
