New SKS, Range Report & Photos

I tried the tech sight front post with the issue rear sight at the range today, I guess I was having an off day because I didn't have any good groups, I was trying to get the windage on with the Tapco tool and could not get it quite on which was distracting, oh well, for my next trick I will remove the issue rear and install my Tech 200 sight and retry next weekend, fwiw, I had more success with my #5 MKI, had some nice (for me groups) 3-4 Inch 5 shot groups at 100 yards, once I figured out I had to crank up the range to 300 to get them in there at 100  It's amazing how your groups shrink when you check / tighten the kingscrew. . .

Not meaning to hijack but fat tony, I'm interested in the Tech 200 myself. if you could post a brief range report on how it works for you, I'd appreciate it.

Similar to Geologist's idea is the old 25 yard .303 target the CF and Cadets used to use. I don't have one to post, but you can see it in "Shoot to Live" and a lot of CF manuals.

Not exactly on topic, but a couple years ago, I found an original copy of "Shoot to Live" at a used book store around here. They were selling it for $4.00! Why I didn't buy it is the question I keep asking myself whenever I remember going back the next time to that bookstore and noting its absence from the shelf.:(

good shooting .... those darn czech ammo always seems to have a flyer .

No no curtton, that's not a "flyer"... That is "battlefield spray for effect"... ha ha ha

Thanks for the range report! Makes me want to shoot my SKS's, but, I'm waiting for a very special day... My little brother may be back in Canada this summer... Our SKS's are sitting side by side in my gunsafe...

Cheers
Jay

You'll need to register with milsurps.com, but you should be on that forum anyway. They have the 1945 "Shoot to Live" scanned

You're right, I should register and I just might. One more forum to sign up for amongst many others! Actually, I did download STL and I've got it saved, but to have an original hardcopy would be nice, especially at the steal price that it was at.
