Just bought a new cheap toy,,,
Man is this thing greasy,,, any pointers on doing the origional clean up?
Anybody find favourite ammo that works ok for them ?
Any pointers on tips and tricks for making em work their best ?
I don't expect any remarkable/ record setting accuracy out of this, it is an SKS, I have two other rifles for that, but I wanna see what I can eek out of it.
thanks
Mike

For the metal parts and cosmoline I always found the breakfree/good solvent with an air compressor was the easiest way. The stock needs to be sweated to get the cosmo out, ala old stove or car trunk in the summer. :)

I totally stripped the gun down and then I used varsol and a rag to get the grease off all the parts. It didn't take too long. Good luck :)

Ice-Pick,

Did I read your post right that you purchased the SKS at Epps? Or were you talking about ammo?

I've been looking for an SKS M-59/66 for a while, but cannot find one anywhere. Missed out on the great deals that Marstar had on them.

Cheers,
