Picked up a Russian SKS today. Looking for some info/feedback. I have read the sticky on this forum regarding Russian SKS's and have also owned and shot a couple Chinese models.
Mine is Tula aresenal marked 1954r. Not refurbished as well as I can tell. All serial #'s match. Bolt, follower and bore all appear unfired. Couple very minor handling marks in the wood. There are 3 faint diamond shaped stamps in the forestock around the screwhead near magazine. They contain the following letters- B, C or G and what appears to be a N reversed. Stock is what I assume is birch and there is on small pin through the forestock. It is serial # 'ed to the rifle.
The shop had 3 more in stock. All appeared very similiar in condition except one mag had a line through the serial # and then forced matched with electric pencil.
Price was 279.00 and included sling ,oil bottle etc.
Not sure whether I'm allowed to mention location or not.
Any feeback would be appreciated.
Thanks
