New Springfield 18D owner

Hi, my name's 'Rex' and I just acquired several firearms including a Springfield 18D bolt action 12 gauge.
Turns out when you inherit firearms they rarely come with instructions and the guy who knows is no longer available to ask.
I remember Dad's shotgun, but I do not know much about it. So I have come for your help.
