New Springfield RO 1911 9mm

Just got my first 1911 , Springfield RO 9mm. Beautiful piece. Much heavier than I expected. I'll give her a good workout this weekend . I'm not to sure that I like the black front sight though. Any suggestions on that?

Dawson precession won't sell in canada. You can get a fiber optic sight on amazon

I'm gonna try it as is first. I tryed to get Dawson sights for an m&p I used to have but couldn't find them anywhere.

I did get a set of Novak sights from Brownells and they were OK.

I paint prefer to paint front sights orange. I start with a Wite-out primer coat and finish with a Liquitex paint marker. Testor's or any other similar enamel paint will also work.

sounds good, I was gonna use some floresant fingernail polish. My daughter has some green and red glow in the dark stuff

Got to the range this morning and put 50 factory rnds and 50 hand loads through it. No issues with either ammo. Very nice shooter, hardly any muzzle rise at all. I'm pleased. Now for the field strip I'm a bit worried, looks more complicated than my M&P 9. Lol

Don't get the idiot scratch with the slide stop!

Lining up the floating barrel link with the slide stop is the biggest pain of putting a 1911 back together! Great gun though!
You can strip and assemble a Glock at least 5 times in the time it takes to put a 1911 back together carefully.

10x for mortals but 5x if the guy putting the 1911 back together is a SF operator!
