I bought a new SR 22 and I have tried 7 types of ammo and they all have feed problems weather it's feeding or cycling the only ammo that doesn't is 20 year old Imperial and I am almost out of it. any help ladies and gents please.

P.S. that is with the factory mag, even worse with a bc 25 round steel lips

What exactly is happening ?

When you charge the rifle, do you pull back on the handle and let it go?

Does the bolt get stuck when you do?

More information and we may be able to help.

With a new 10/22 high velocity ammo is best. The action is quite rough and needs to be smoothed out (break in period) During this time lighter ammo will usually have some problems cycling the rifle. Anything HV will do like Rem yellow jacket, CCI mini mags, stingers etc. If it is stovepiping then it is probably due to standard velocity ammo. Which ammos have you tried?

I've 'broken in' two 10/22s. The first was no problem, functioned flawlessly right out of the box. The second was an SR22 that took ~300 rounds before it started to smooth out.

The first is nearing 30000 rounds now, the second is ~5000. I might even clean them one day.

I would suggest using the factory mag until things smooth out, as to not compound the frustration.

Good luck

i love my savage .22 model 64 great gun and out of about 200 rounds only 4 miss fires, i was using fed bulk pack.

I find that Blazer works best in mine. I've tried the Winchester 333 and Federal blue box ammo and had all kinds of feeding problems with them.

While my SR22 feeds fine with almost any ammo and the stock ruger 10rd rotary magazine, I will say that with aftermarket mags, everything but CCI ammo is a crap shoot.

Federal Champion 40gr is okay, but gets the odd misfeed and the accuracy is sub par.

Stay away from any non CCI hollow points, haven't had one that fed reliablely.

My favorite ammo's: (CCI) Blazer 40gr RN's, CCI Minimag 40gr CPRN, and CCI Subsonic's LHP's

Blazers are the best plinking round as you can get the 525round pack for around $25 and they are very reliable and respectable as far as accuracy goes.

sometimes the bullet gets stuck going in the chamber sometimes the spent casing does not come out but the next round is chambering and sometimes the spent casing is causing the feed jam. all this is after the first round the first round goes in as expected.

Sounds like your having problems with your extractor. The OEM extractor is junk and usually the first thing 1022 owners replace.
