I just inherited an unfired Colt .45 Government model MKIV satin finish from my uncle in the US. Thank you IRunGuns for the fairly painless process. 6 weeks and $275 later it finally arrived :) anyone have any info on the value here in Canada. Also any input as to the care and cleaning of the satin finish? Thanks!

Thanks :) i love it. Should I even fire it or safe queen it lol. I found an exact one on an online auction site in the US that has been fired and some signs of wear for $1300. I dont think i can resist though, probably bring it to the range this weekend

I use FLITZ lightly in cleaning my CZ85C with Satin Nickel finish. Light solvent to remove any residue, FLITZ and finish up with a light coat of CLP. Warning: Use lightly. Discontinue use if you see flaking. Use it the way you polish your car with wax. I might suggest remove the grip and try it within the covered area.

He has several he will be giving to me as he is moving out of the country this year. He wanted to see how the process went first before he sends the rest (nice uncle isnt he). I used regular import as I am not aware of the "one-time export exemption". Can you elaborate? thx!

(amishooter thx for the tips on cleaning)

PS does anyone know how to date the build of this gun? On the box it says model 01975 would it be correct to assume this was made 38 years ago and never fired?

Thanks for the link. I have tried this one before with no luck. I will have to call Colt directly for more info.
