STI new DVC Open gun will be available in less than 2 months....comes from factory with lightened slide, 2 lb trigger, ball detent slide racker etc etc...a factory "custom" gun with a price tag reportedly under $4000...WOW....there is a Standard gun which looks very similar too (DVC Standard)....pic of STI factory gun can be seen thru the Brazo site (it is NOT a customized Brazo gun) www.brazoscustom.com/sti_guns/sti_dvcopen.htm (sorry, I don't know how to post pics on here)

It's a wonder they can sell that for $4000 and SVI wants $6000 for something very similar minus many of the features (optic, comp).

Apples and oranges, one is mass produced all with the same features and one is custom built.
Like buying a house from a volume contractor vs a custom contractor, custom will not necessarely be that much better but more expensive because people are working to specific specs and are never the same. A mistake and it's start over.

I wish STI would have a decked out 1911 classic along the lines of a decked out SVI single stack.
Their USPSA does not offer much more than the trojan performance wise.

And yes their DVC limited is quite pretty if it was my division and i had the monies.

I handled both guns and they are impressive. Both come with honest 2lb triggers and the fit and finish is very, very good. The new comp design will be interesting to try against the current Trubor design which I really like. I'm perfectly happy with my Trubor but would rrally like to try one of these out.

I handled the DVC Open today. Beautifully built and fitted. I haven't shot a race gun since the 80s and don't compete in IPSC but the rep told me these Open guns were only available in .38Super and 9mm (Major??), not sure if she said Major or just 9mm. It's not made in .45ACP as of present. Is this normal for this class of guns? Back when I was young, most race guns were .45 and .38 Super. Has this changed now?

Actually last person shooting Open in .45ACP here in Ontario was my buddy John E. in early 2000s. It was a STI open gun.

And that was just about when I shot my last Colt comp gun from Behlert Custom...in .45 ACP!
PH 01, what is the reason for switching out of .45? Does Open class not have a power factor requirement or do they load the 9 and .38 Supers hot now?
From what I've read about the history of IPSC, once people started figuring out how to get 38 super and 9 major to work properly, that was the way to go with a compensated gun, because the higher pressure required to make major with a smaller bullet meant that the compensator was a lot more effective.

Still has a pf requirement for Open of 160 to make Major, and 9mm can be loaded to Major pf. Think my buddy uses 7.5 gr of Autocomp, should come in at 170 pf or thereabout. They are super damn hot and loud as c*ck.
