Has the flash hider style changed on new production models?

Image is from DelSelins post of the same for sale.

Aesthetically, I prefer the older tapered model. But it occurred to me as if they are adapting to the parts off the new 553?

Intelligent opinions?

The one i owned which was one of the first FN sports imported came with this type of flash hider.. No threads internally for suppressor and looks are different.

A new, improved version of the SG 552 has recently been released, the SG 553. Even though it mostly resembles the SG 552, the SG 553 has one key advantage, the recoil spring is now wrapped around the piston rod like in the SG 550/551 models, which address several reliability issues encountered in the SG 552 and also allows the usage of the "normal" charging handle. It is available in both standard, short and LB barrel lengths and with an optional integrated receiver Picatinny rail

Someone wanna explain "normal" charging handle?

Also, I am presuming that this is the "fix" to the issue presented by Big Red and others with operational usage overseas.

I wonder if that model from Del Sins is the CQB equivilent of the 553. I'd be interested to see what the bolt and carrier looks like.

I heard that when the 553 comes out that the production for 552 would stop. Maybe this is it.

The bolt and carriers are the same as the 552s. Op Rod is fixed to the bolt carrier and the spring is behind the bolt carrier. The spring guide is the updated polymer one.
