New synthetic forearm will not fit !

just picked up a new synthetic forearm for my Mossberg 500 (Mossberg product) from Ellwood Epps today and the forearm wont slide all the way onto the action slide assembly. The groove on the forearm is about 1 inch to short so I can't get the tub nut back on.
Anyone else ever run into this problem ?

The packaging is marked Mossberg 12 gauge Model 500, 590, & 835

Yup. Done it twice. A knife blade and some sand paper worked for me. Just look for where it's rubbing.

Seems to be a common problem, I have had to "adjust" aftermarket Remington and Winchester forends before, even with quality or OEM manufacturers of the parts, so I guess Mossberg isn't "special". If you can't adjust it yourself or lack the confidence to cut, any good 'smith should fix it for you cheap.

I can see doing some fine sanding or shaving, but hacking up a new product to make it fit is not right
